About Noorin Fazal, Founder of Heart-First Culture
Learning leader, consultant and coach. Shaped by the education field and honed by the tech industry. Focused on social impact.
My name is Noorin (pronounced Noor-EEN) and I go by she/her pronouns. I was born in the unceded homelands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh Peoples also referred to as Vancouver, Canada. Both my parents were born in East Africa and studied in the UK before immigrating to Canada in the 1970s.
In my entrepreneurial work, I help leaders scale a work culture that is both heart-first and results-oriented.
In 2016, I joined the founding team for SV Academy, a startup that democratizes access to tech. With over 15 years of experience in learning design, I have created award-winning programs that train on technical skills AND human skills, including growth mindset, emotional intelligence, and mindfulness.
The results are exciting. SV Academy grads see 2.4x income expansion and 60% promotions in the first year on the job. , we won an award for Most Innovative Education Company in the world from Fast Company. Since then, I have reached 46,000 learners (and counting) through a 5-course certificate on Coursera, consulted with MBA programs, and mentored and coached entrepreneurs, teachers, and tech leaders.
Through all of this, I have formulated a heart-first methodology to help leaders create cultures that are top-performing and, importantly, scalable. I support leaders to focus on scalable results by starting with connection.
I have lived and worked in many parts of the world, including Dar es Salaam, London, Vancouver, Toronto, Dushanbe, San Francisco, Port of Spain, Florence, Crete, Buenos Aires, and Lisbon. Now I’m back in the Pacific Northwest, living and working in Seattle. Still drinking lots of chai, performing at open mics, and hoarding salty snacks.
“If you want lasting results, start with heart.”
